Full Moon in Libra

Today - Sunday, March 28 - is a full Moon in Libra with the Moon in a grand trine with Mars and Saturn as well as an opposition to the stellium of the Sun, Venus and Chiron.

“But what does all of it mean, Corky?!?” (…if you know, you know, and if you don’t know, watch Waiting for Guffman).

The Cliff’s Note’s version would be this: if we want to create true harmony in our lives, we have to heal the wounds we hold onto that keep us from loving ourselves so that we’re not trying to create balance on fractured ground.

A grand trine in Astrology is a very harmonious aspect that is created when three (or more) planets come into 120ish degrees of one another - this also generally means that the three planets are in signs of the same element. The grand trine that we’re experiencing today is in air signs, which are known for their ability to be detached and discerning - two things that are very necessary to be able to really see the truth of a situation and how it may need to be modified in order to create lasting peace and ease.

The funny thing about Libra is that the same airy mechanism of detached observation, which can allow it to see things in an unbiased way, is the same mechanism used to rationalize how pointing something out that is imbalanced and unharmonious will cause more harm than allowing the situation to remain as it has always been. For air signs, the mind is king, and how you direct it will determine what you see. The lesson that Libra needs to learn is that true balance, peace and harmony often isn’t possible without a great disruption to the status quo.

Luckily with this grand trine, the moon adds depth to the values of balance and harmony, Mars adds the courage required to create true balance, and Saturn adds the maturity to know when we are really embodying these values versus keeping them in the land of theories and ideals.

This grand trine, however, is also in relationship to the Sun (the self), Venus (love and sweetness), and Chiron (the original wound). This isn’t necessarily bad news as it gives us an amazing opportunity to investigate how peaceful our lives can truly be if we’re not doing the work of unrooting our “not enough-ness,” therefore allowing us to downplay our own involvement and needs.

When we allow the belief that we don’t deserve our own love to go unchecked, we think it’s reasonable to not include our full human self when trying to create peace. But if this is our tendency, we have to ask ourselves how much balance and fairness can there really be if one part of the equation isn’t included? And if including ourselves with the same weight we include others makes us feel self-indulgent, today is the day to tenderly investigate what part of us is so hurt, that we are willing to believe we don’t matter as much as everyone else.
