Full Moon in Scorpio

This evening, April 26, welcomes a Full Moon in Scorpio.

Scorpio rules the 8th house of the zodiacal wheel as it sits opposite Taurus, which rules the 2nd. Anytime we have a Full Moon (when the Sun and Moon are exactly opposite each other in the sky), it is our job to look at how we can find the lesson in the tension of the polarity so that rather than playing a game of tug-of-war between the two sides, we create a rope of dynamic tension on which we can walk, and play, and swing.

The 2nd house/Taurus in Astrology has everything to do with the value and comforts of material things, and the power we feel from those things. It’s where we get a lot of information about our relationship with money and our sense of self-worth, as well as information on what we accumulate and how we do it. The 2nd house/Taurus is what we can see, taste, touch and smell; it’s everything luxurious in life; it’s chocolate and cashmere and decadent wines; it’s Lizzo and Aphrodite on the Half Shell.

The 8th house/Scorpio, on the other hand, is all about what we must surrender (what is out of our control) and how power can also come from finding what is of value that can’t be tracked by anything except our unconscious mind. The 8th house/Scorpio is Kali stripping everything from you until what you value most is the glory of your innermost self; it is the dark night of the soul before the grand awakening; it’s the small death of the orgasm; it’s death itself; it asks us to trust deeply in our own ability to excavate what needs to be seen; it’s Joaquin Phoenix and The Kiss.

As the Sun is in Taurus, it is shining its bright light right onto Scorpio. This combination asks us to use our creature comforts as the spring board from which we must dive deep into ourselves as we can learn how to can find pleasure from inside of our own beings without judging what our innermost voice has to say. Scorpio rules the occult, the esoteric and all things forbidden. What parts of your sexuality are you frightened of, or remain unexplored? What is it in you that blocks your ability to stand in your own authority? How deep does your shame go, and is it rooted in you, or has it been passed down to you? What are you unwilling to surrender?

Don’t forget, Scorpio is also known to be supremely guarded and secretive, so as the Sun shines brightly on what’s going on on the inside, don’t be surprised if those parts of you that have been hiding in the shadows start to creep out. Let them! They need to feel compassionately seen too.
