Full Moon in Virgo

On Saturday at 12:17am PST, we are ushered into a Full Moon in Virgo.

As the Sun is opposite the Moon during any Full Moon, these are moments of illumination - specifically in the areas of our lives to which the signs present are ascribed - and how we find balance between the two opposing signs.

With the Sun currently in Pisces, and the Moon in Virgo, this is the time to turn your awareness towards the way in which your day to day life and spiritual life are working harmoniously together, or where there is disparity between the two causing consternation and grief. Virgo gives us the tools to be methodical, ordered and exact in our daily living, and Pisces gives us the tools to swim in the spiritual sea.

Virgo is very often associated with perfectionism, which can lead to nit-picky and complaining energy, but it is also the sign of service. With this in mind, the most exalted state of Virgo is perfect service. This does not mean service without fault or mistake - it means actions that are taken solely for the good of another without needing to gain anything from it; it means actions that are driven by the devotion of the purest part of your heart (Karma Yoga).

Pisces is the dreamer, the mystic, the psychic. Pisces is everything that is beyond the veil - it is the mystery itself. Pisces asks us to tap into our intuition because the voice of the intuition is our highest voice, and the closest we’ll get to direct messages from God. While Pisces is sometimes thought of as flighty, or checked-out, or in a completely different world, the highest iteration of Pisces is to be the conduit through which the divine messages come through.

In order for Virgo to know where and how to serve, it needs guidance from above; and in order for Pisces to transmit, it needs a grounding rod in the Earth. So while they are opposite each other in the sky, they traits of each are critical for the other to be able to express itself as its most exalted state.

Tonight and tomorrow, ask yourself if your day to day life is supporting your highest self, and if your soul is helping to inform what that daily action is.

It is a good time to meditate on how - as Paramahansa Yogananda wrote - you can spiritualize your senses and actions. One good place to start is to make everything you do an offering to something, or someone, other than yourself.

As Krishna says to Arjuna in chapter 9, verse 27 of the Bhagavad Gita, “Whatever you do, Arjuna, make that an offering. Whether it’s eating, sacrificing yourself, giving help or even your suffering (tapas), offer it to me.”
