New Moon in Aquarius
A message to the old guard of both internal and external structures:
It’s time to get the fuck out.
Today is a New Moon in Aquarius, the divine rebel. Along with walking to the beat of their own drums of eccentricity, Aquarius is known as the humanitarian of the Zodiac and the champion of the underdog. Ruled by the planet Uranus, Aquarian energy pushes us to overturn anything that feels outdated and stuck in the past. It looks at the world as it tries to find whatever upholds injustice and inequality so that those people and things can be brought to their knees.
As an air sign, Aquarius is also known for the ability to be detached enough that it can observe whatever is going on from a place of reason rather than emotion, and in this way provides space for new ideas to emerge because there is not the danger of getting drowned in all the emotions that come with staying attached. Aquarius is looking to the universal rather than the particular; universal equality, universal equity, universal love.
This Aquarian energy isn’t just contained to this New Moon (the time for planting seeds) because there are six other planets in the same sign!
There is tons of momentum today to declare who and what you stand for, and figure out how to work for nothing less. As Jupiter (expansion) and Venus (love) are also together in Aquarius, it is the day to focus all that energy you put into romantic life onto how you can expand that love you feel so deeply for the ones closest to you out to every being on this great Earth. And since Aquarius is all about what’s new, it is also a great day to envision a new way of showing up in relationships - whether that’s the one you’re currently in, or how you would like to be in whatever comes next.
Mercury retrograde is also happening in the sign of Aquarius. Whenever Mercury (thinking) is retrograde, it is an opportunity to turn your lens inward to see where in your own life things need to be shaken up in a drastic way. Perhaps it’s the way you think in general! Remain open. Remain curious.
The one word of warning for the day is that Mars and Uranus are both currently in a difficult relationship to all these planets in Aquarius. Since Mars is the planet of action and aggression, and Uranus is the planet of upheaval and impulsivity, we can expect to see that there may be impulsive and aggressive actions taken in the name of defending whatever needs to be torn down. This resistance can either scare you into believing that the old way is the right way, or it can catalyze you into harnessing the determination of Aquarius to stay the course in the face of the past trying to keep you down. The choice is truly up to you.
