New Moon in Leo
Today is a new moon in Leo, and the sun is in Leo as well, which means it's time for us to check in how we're feeding our inner child to make sure they're getting enough play, creative self-expression and unadulterated love.
In Western Astrology, Leo rules the fifth house which is the house of children, passion, romance, creative self-expression, and risk taking among other things. One of the biggest gifts of Leo is joyful generosity -- a true love of giving and receiving anything that engenders pure-hearted adoration. That being said, one of the downfalls of Leo is selfish entitlement.
On this new moon, it's a great time to ask ourselves how we are catering to the wonder and playful nature of our inner child, and where in our lives have we let the more immature aspects of childhood take hold.
With Mars right now in difficult relationship to both Saturn and Pluto, the desire to be overly reactive like a child throwing a temper tantrum is much more potent especially when we are faced with situations that remind us of the more adult responsibilities we wish we didn't have.
The question then becomes: how can we use what we have learned through the process of being an adult to help us facilitate a life in which the inner child still receives the nourishment it needs and a seat at the table? If we approach this integration with some patience and curiosity, we can bring the best parts of the adult mind and the child mind together. The child wants to live from the heart, and the adult has the ability to create a life and environment in which that is a possibility.
This evening, write down what living from the heart means to you. Write down what you absolutely loved as a child and make a plan to do that again as soon as possible.
Remember that joy and happiness are a human right, and living a life in pursuit of these feelings isn't superficial or out of touch - it's a declaration of your understanding that we are the ones who make meaning out of our lives, and the meaning of life is far more than checking things off the list of what needs to get done.
