Full Moon in Pisces

Early this evening we welcome a very watery Full Moon in Pisces coupled up with Neptune, which is the ruling planet of that same sign, giving us an extra dose of dreaminess, inspiration, and connection with the Divine.

When we think of love, we think mostly of romantic or familial love because it is in our nature to attach a thought or a feeling to something to which we can easily point. This Full Moon, however, is a reminder that the love we feel does not actually come from those few people - they are simply the avenue through which we are contacting the truest nature of our own souls.

One of the reasons why I love Bhakti Yoga so much is because all the devotional practices associated with it serve as reminders that the real through-line of the Universe, and in fact God itself, is the energy of Love. It also reminds us that God is everything, which means that ultimately we can feel deeply loved and held in every moment, through every being. And, whether this seems possible or not, doing any work to pull yourself in this direction does wonders in allowing us to release the fear of loneliness or being alone. How can you truly be alone when God is always right there holding you? You can kick, you can scream, you can try to run away, and still you will always be held.

This is also extremely helpful for any of my friends who struggle with being so anxious about being loved that they will latch on to anything that gives them even a glimpse of that feeling. (Full disclosure: I feel you. I’m in recovery from anxious attachment too.) To be fair, it is a heavy lift, but if you allow yourself to accept that everyone around you is a key to unlocking that feeling that you crave, over time the clinging to a person or a relationship will start to fade.

This isn’t to say that you need to reject those people who really help you connect to that part of yourself. In fact, gather as many of those people as you can so you don’t forget this beautiful reality. But when you say, “I love you,” add on quietly to yourself, “Thank you for being one of the keys that unlocks a truer understanding of what I am."

Neptune (the planet that rules the sign of Pisces) inspires us to lift our consciousness towards a higher way of existing. With this planet in its own sign and coupled up with the Moon, it is a great time to feel into what your highest being needs from you and your personality in order to more fully live as the “right hand man” of God - how can you be not only a servant of love, but the embodiment of love? The beginning of that answer is to first recognize the truth of what you are.
