Full Moon in Leo

Today is the first Full Moon of of the new year, and what better way to start us off than with a focus on LOVE!
As the Moon is only full in Leo during Aquarius season, it’s worth it to look at what these two signs, which are directly opposite each other, have in common and what each can learn from the other. While at first glance it may seem that airy Aquarius and fiery Leo are quite different, they have more in common than you may think, and the pathway that connects Leo and Aquarius is the pathway of love - personal love through Leo, and humanitarian love through Aquarius.

With our solar consciousness currently on humanitarian issues, the concept of “othering” people has taken center stage in one way or another - we make other those who are different than us because of skin color, status, wealth, identity, sexual orientation and more, thus severing any sense of connection we might have inherently had when we came into this world, and cutting away any sense that we may have responsibility towards those who are different than us. All of us do this. ALL of us.

So, how are we going to create a truly equitable world if this is how we operate?

We are going to tap into Leo’s ability to truly love each individual person we come into contact with. Remember, the whole of humanity is made up of individual people so it is impossible to cultivate love for everyone when we still are willing to hold back love from anyone.

Ram Dass used to tell a story that I love, which perfectly illustrates this point:
After “Be Here Now” was released, his organization made an audio recording of the book and sold it for just enough that they could produce more copies.
While visiting his father, Ram Dass told him how much they were charging for the record, and his father was appalled.
“You should charge more!” he said.
Ram Dass then asked his father - who was a lawyer - how much he had charged his uncle when he needed some legal help. His father responded, “Well of course I didn’t charge him. He’s family.”
Ram Dass’ response?
“Well, that’s my predicament. I see everyone as family.”

This really is our task of the times - to see everyone as family, to understand that what links us is far deeper and more rich than what divides us, and to remember that love isn’t just a feeling but also a verb. If we want to feel love, we have to act as love.

Bringing even more joy into this day is Jupiter coupling up with the Sun. Jupiter is the planet of luck, benevolence, good humor and abundance, and as it is exactly with the Sun today, some even say it is the luckiest day of the year! Take advantage.

Your job today? Make love - whatever that means to you ;)
