New Moon in Capricorn
There is a common saying in any spiritual practice that has become a very common refrain for me in my own practice as well as in my teaching: Start where you are.
Tonight and tomorrow (depending on your time zone) brings us a new moon in Capricorn - a sign whose attributes include capability, structure, achievement, and perseverance. As a new moon is the time to plant seeds of what you wish to see come to fruition, this new moon is a great time to sit down and really do some planning around what it is you would like to create for your life. If we want to take full advantage of this new moon, and the energy of Capricorn, it is imperative that you plan out not just your dream, but also the action steps required to create it. It is very tempting to go off into some sort of dreamland and fantasize about what your life could be, but those dreams generally don’t have any structure to them because the dreamer isn’t taking into account the reality of either what their lives look like, who they really are, or a combination of both. And so…
Start where you are.
In trying to figure out your starting point, and where you would like to go, today is a good day to methodically go through all that has transpired for you since January of last year. Of course there have been universal things that we have collectively experienced, but it’s easy to hide our own work by pretending that we’re dissolving into the Whole, so instead of going big picture, bring it back to home and think through what has happened for you personally this year: what lessons you’ve had to learn, what you feel you’ve had to overcome, how you’ve grown, where you’ve found the most joy, etc. Getting very clear on all of these things will most likely bring into view very large clues for you regarding the ongoing work (both personal and professional) that you are meant to take on starting this year.
As Capricorn is truly the sign of getting shit done, if you really do your due diligence today, it’s as if you’ll get cosmically catapulted towards all you want to achieve.
And as always, keep God in mind. Remember the truth of what you are, and of whatever you will be. After all, our goals are really God’s goals and we are just the vehicle for the work.
